Hey ladies,
I’ve been on the fence for a while about getting a golf rangefinder. I usually just go by the yardage markers on the course or my GPS watch, but I kept hearing how a laser rangefinder can really help with club selection.
Last month I picked up the Bushnell Tour V6 Shift during a sale, and after three rounds, here’s my take:
What I Love:
• Accuracy – It gives me exact yardage to the pin, not just the front/middle/back like my GPS.
• Slope feature – Great for figuring out uphill and downhill shots (I turn it off for league play since it’s not allowed in competitions).
• Quick lock-on – Picks up the flag fast, even if there’s background clutter.
What I’m Not Sure About:
• I still forget to use it sometimes because I’m in “old habits” mode.
• A bit bulky in the cart pocket.
• Pricey compared to some budget brands.
Overall, I’ve noticed I’m hitting more greens in regulation because I’m choosing the right club more often. For me, it was worth the investment — but I’m curious if anyone here has tried a cheaper rangefinder like the Precision Pro NX10 or TecTecTec KLYR?
What do you all use for yardages — GPS watch, phone app, or laser?

I went with a $100 Amazon special just to see if I’d even like using one, and honestly… it’s been fine! Not as fancy as the Bushnell or Precision Pro, but for my weekend rounds, it gets the job done.
One thing I noticed — rangefinders really help with confidence. When I know I’ve got 128 yards to the flag, I can swing my 8-iron without second-guessing.

I’ve been a GPS watch user for years (Garmin Approach S42) and thought I’d never switch, but my husband let me borrow his TecTecTec KLYR last week. I can see why people love rangefinders — it felt so good knowing EXACTLY how far the pin was instead of guessing.
That said, I still like my watch for quick front/middle/back yardages when I’m walking. I think the best combo might actually be using both.

I’ve been using the Precision Pro NX10 for about a year now, and honestly, I love it. It’s not quite as fast as the Bushnell when locking onto the flag, but for the price, it’s been super reliable.
One tip — if you go the budget route, spend a few minutes before your round practicing on a few flags so you get used to how it locks on. Once I did that, my yardages have been spot-on.
I also keep a GPS app on my phone as backup in case I leave the rangefinder in the cart (which happens way too often 😅).
